After the winds and rain of Hurricane Maria cleared, the U.S. Virgin Islands Public Safety Communication System had lost 80% of its connectivity. On such a tight-knit group of islands, the Public Safety Communication System is used by several organizations including first responders, airport security, local government officials, taxi drivers, security companies, and more.
To help protect the chain of islands from such a catastrophe in the future, Southeastern Towers was called in to asses the damage of the system and make recommendations to harden and secure the system. An action plan was submitted, and government agencies are currently reviewing options to implement the plan.
